The Sassenpoort in Zwolle's city wall is a city gate that was built in the late 14th and early 15th centuries as part of the city defenses.

Around the 14th and 15th centuries, a city wall was built around the entire center of Zwolle built, at that time there were 23 towers included in the wall, of which now only 3 remain.

At several places gates were built into the city wall. In total there were 8, of which only the Sassenpoort has been preserved in its entirety. The six-century-old medieval Sassenpoort was built in the late 14th and early 15th centuries to defend the city. The gate had a place in the city wall that surrounded the center of Zwolle in the 15th century.

The Sassenpoort is among the Top 100 Dutch monuments.
